Find a class that fits your level of playing guitar! You can move up or down so that you learn as much as you are able.

Beginning Class Description
The instruction is for beginners. Students need to bring their own guitar; electric (and practice amp) and acoustic guitars can be used for the class. Basic fingering, reading musical notation, and technique will be taught. The goal for this level is to learn the basic notes on all six strings and to perform as a class. Performance opportunities are provided.

Restart Class Description
For guitarists who already have started to play, but dropped out and want to get back in without going back to the very beginning. This class focuses on learning a broad range of guitar skill by learning songs. You don't need to read music, but you do have to practice.

Players Class Description
This class picks up where the Restart Class leaves off. Some students overlap the two classes. Chord/Melody and technique leading toward position playing and improvization. Students need to be able to read music notation (or be learning to read the notation). Performance is the goal of the class. If you learned to play already this might be the class for you. Please call to get some more information as we want to find the right class for you.

Theory Class Description
These students can do basic site reading in the keys of C, G, and will begin this summer session with the key of F. The text is Mel Bay Grade 2 Modern Guitar.

These classes are taught by Fr. Keith Acker has taught for more than 20 years including 5 years in Alpine. He is the pastor of Alpine Anglican Church which meets at 8:30am in the Auditorium of Alpine Elementary School. He frequently performs with students from the classes. The Free Teen Guitar Class was the opening act at one of the Concerts in the Park sponsored by the Alpine Community Center. He dontates his time as a service to the community. "I tend more toward hard rock and heavy blues, but we practice on a wide variety of styles. Some students I've taught have gone on to play semi-professionally, but most for their own enjoyment. This introductory class is a great way to get started playing that new Christmas guitar and the price is right.
